Scripture
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Reflection
Philippians warns against selfish ambition and urges believers to count others as significant. Christ's humility is the pattern, not passivity or the abandonment of responsibility. If you usually lead, invite another person's ideas and seriously consider them. Making room for someone else's contribution can strengthen the whole group and expose blind spots you might otherwise miss.
