So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.
Reflection
Jesus teaches that reconciliation matters so deeply that a worshiper who remembers a brother's grievance should seek to make things right. His words call us to take responsibility rather than hide behind religious activity. If you caused harm, apologize without excuses and offer appropriate restitution. You cannot force forgiveness, but you can pursue repentance with sincerity.
