Scripture
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Reflection
James teaches that trials can produce steadfastness as believers endure with faith. The passage does not say every failed attempt is a trial sent by God or that persistence always means repeating the same plan. Learn from what happened, seek wisdom, and try again where the goal remains good. Perseverance includes the humility to change your approach.
